چکیده
Abstract Processing organic waste using black soldier fly (BSF)-based technology offers a promising alternative for sustainable management and urban sanitation. This study was conducted to assess the influence of feeding strategies on efficacy BSF larvae recycle wastes into value products. Fruit chicken manure were used as samples while commercial feed control, processed 15 days in circular plastic containers (Ø 30 × 12 cm) with 50; 100; 150; 200 mg/larva/day continuous batch diets, 500 four-day-old per diet, repeated four times. Larval survival rates not significantly affected by strategies. However, average larval biomass 83.69 ± 13.04 g 82.46 08.52 achieved strategies, respectively, under favorable conditions. reduction ranged from 24.65 03.48% 72.78 01.48% 24.52 0.27% 72.25 12.13% different daily diets. On other hand, bioconversion 13.34 0.26% 50.82 02.27%, highest values observed confirms thrive substrates shows that strategy can be better enhance small-scale management.

From organic waste to biodiesel: Black soldier fly, Hermetia illucens, makes it feasible
Biodiesel is a renewable and environmentally friendly liquid fuel. However, the feedstock, predominantly crop oil, is a limited and expensive food resource which prevents large scale application of biodiesel. Development of non-food feedstocks are therefore, needed to fully utilize biodiesel’s potential. In this study, the larvae of a high fat containing insect, black soldier fly (Hermetia illu...
متن کاملModulation of nutrient composition of black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae by feeding seaweed-enriched media
Black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae are a promising source of protein and lipid for animal feeds. The nutritional composition of the BSF larvae depend partly on the composition of the feeding medium. The BSF lipid profile in part mimics the feeding media lipid profile, and micronutrients, like minerals and vitamins, can readily accumulate in black soldier fly larvae. However, investiga...

The intra-puparial development of the black soldier-fly, Hermetia illucens (L.) (Diptera: Stratiomyidae), was studied based on 125 pupae under controlled conditions in laboratory. The 6(th) instar larvae were reared until they stopped feeding, and the prepupae were separated according to the reduction in larval length and degree of pigmentation and sclerotization of the cuticle. The pupal stage...
متن کاملReview of Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) as Animal Feed and Human Food
Food futurists accept that sustainability-minded humanity will increasingly incorporate insects as alternative protein. The most studied and easily reared species are not necessarily the most sustainable, acceptable, or delicious. Here, we review the literature on the black soldier fly, Hermetia illucens, which is capable of efficiently converting a wide variety of organic materials, from food ...
متن کاملThe Black Soldier Fly, Hermetia Illucens, as a Manure Management / Resource Recovery Tool
Insects play a significant role in recycling many forms of waste and other accumulated nutrients in the environment. Attempts to harness the power of insects for manure management have not been particularly successful or widely adopted. Although additional research is needed, the current state of the technology for utilizing the black soldier fly (Hermatia) for processing hen and swine manure a...
